I am Jakša, a software engineer in Zagreb. I have spent the last seven years on backend systems for banks and telecoms, mostly in Java. Outside of work I ship apps, design boards and weld motorcycle frames, because I like seeing an idea go all the way to something real.

Lead Software Engineer at Zagrebačka banka

Since June 2022 I lead work on the bank's cash management platform. We brought the previously outsourced system in-house, carried it through the Croatian euro changeover, and are now decomposing it into microservices. Day to day that means Java, design patterns, Oracle and Db2 on z/OS, Maven and Gradle, and mentoring the team.

  1. Lead Software Engineer

    • Took over the outsourced cash management software and integrated it into the bank's own engineering organisation.
    • Led the transition of domestic currency to the euro inside the cash management system.
    • Modernising the platform by decomposing it into microservices; mentoring team members; Oracle and Db2 on z/OS.
